| - When I decided to move I started shopping for moving companies and got some pretty outrageous quotes...until I called All My Sons! They quoted me $89 an hour with the standard one hour fee and estimated that it would take 2-3 hours to move my one bedroom apartment. This was right on track with my previous experiences, and far better rates than the $125-180 an hour that some of the popular moving companies quoted me.
I was impressed immediately by their communication: Within a half hour of requesting a quote online I received a very friendly call from one of their employees. I explained my needs, he gave me a breakdown of their rates, but then he asked a few probing questions to find out my exact situation (how many furniture pieces, an estimate of boxes, upstairs, distance between locations, etc.) before he gave me an estimate. He told me that with one truck and two men it would take about 3 hours, but likely less. I let him know that I had a few other places to follow up with and he was very polite and even gave me some tips on what to ask about! Unlike the other companies I called, he didn't call me multiple times a day, every day, for a week trying to book my move (one of the most popular places called me 6 TIMES in one day trying to get me to commit!). He followed up once and then let me call him back when I was ready. I appreciated the lack of pressure, he wasn't trying to sell me anything.
When I did call to schedule my move they made it super easy with clear questions, a solid estimate, and great communication.
Two days before my move they followed up with me to confirm everything, and the day of the move (I scheduled for the afternoon) they let me know the window in which they would arrive and called me again to let me know when they were about 20 minutes out. When they arrived, I was super surprised because instead of two guys and a truck, they brought four! They assured me that I would not be charged for the extra labor, they just happened to all be out together for the first move, so they decided to just get my move done quickly.
All the movers were very professional and nice. They came in, assessed the situation and made a plan. They were very efficient but also took the time to be friendly and even took special notice of my cat. They were very careful with my possessions and I really appreciated that they looked out for my cat (he was in a carrier) and took care not to scare him. He's a rather impressively large cat, and each of the movers took a second to greet him and let him get his sniffs. I'm a crazy cat lady, so I loved that they were kind to my cat and approached him gently.
It turned out that after 7 years in the same place, I had a liiiittle more stuff than I initially thought, but with the four movers (even taking time to be careful) it only took then 2.5 hours to get everything moved and staged the way I wanted! The move went very smoothly and none of my possessions were damaged, even my vast collection of ceramic and glass pots (I garden) made it through without so much as a chip.
I definitely recommend All My Sons and if I move again they will be the only place I even bother to call! Everyone else had much higher hourly rates, multiple fees, high pressure sales, and quoted me a minimum of 6 hours! Save yourself some time and just call All My Sons!
