There are plenty of boba tea places around the valley and my wife and I are not impressed with most of them. We like to drink our tea without milk so a lot of shops we go to when we order without milk you can taste the low quality tea they use. Typically shops hide the quality with milk and sugar and worse some are powdered tea or pre-made tea. Ribbons is now our favorite tea place and its rare to find a tea shop on the west side of town. You can customize your drink just like other places also most important you can adjust the sweetness level but the
biggest differences is this place actually steeps the tea when you order it which gives you the true fresh flavor of the tea that wasn't sitting in a giant 5 gallon bucket for hours. Your patience will be rewarded with some awesome tea. Its a tiny place so don't expect inside seating for 8. There are outside seating and the weather is perfect for that now. You'll have to come early as this place closes at 6pm. I tried the genmaicha green tea with roasted rice iced no milk and 100% sweetness. The iced tea was great!! Even at 100% sweetness its half the sweetness of a lot of drink shops. My suggestion if you like sweetness go with 100% as this is real steeped tea so if you're not a big fan of some bitterness in tea that's what I would suggest. I didn't get boba on mine but the owner Joel let to try some. He advised me the boba sits in a organic honey and water mixture. The boba was cooked perfectly. The owner Joel is a really cool guy we spoke a little and told him how my wife and I haven't found a tea shop we liked. He told me he did a lot of research of Taiwanese tea shops and that intrigued my wife even more as she is from Taiwan and they have the best tea shops. Joel is very knowledgeable in tea and they have a smelly station where you and smell the loose leaves. Needless to say my wife gave it a thumbs up and so did I. This will be our new drink place to go to!
