| - We've eaten at "Thee Pits Again" a few times over the years, it's never been busy any of the times I've been there....usually several tables are occupied.
We really wanted some GREAT BBQ...maybe this wasn't the place to experience that. Too bad.
Yes, the service is slow....but, friendly. The waitress even spilled Ranch dressing on me, while carrying too many things in both hands (don't they have trays?)
The slaw is pretty good. BBQ sauce is very good, not too sweet, not too tangy...a good balance.
The side salad is a good size portion of iceberg lettuce, cucumber, under ripe tomato wedge, mushrooms, croutons, and typical ranch dressing.
Meats are tasty with a hint of smokiness, but the meat portions are nothing to write home about...I had some pulled chicken, which looked more like meat pulled off of a chicken leg, it was blended in with the pulled pork. Pulled pork is moist.
DO NOT ORDER the kid's MAC & CHEESE!! I was expecting homemade 5-cheese mac & cheese they had written on their board out front...HOW disappointing to receive a dish of processed CRAP from a box for $4.50!!! Didn't even come with a beverage!
The "grilled veggies" were burnt dried-out charcoal chunks on a skewer...forget about saving these with any ranch dressing, should had ordered them raw, I guess.
The beans were a mushy-mush that tasted like it was from a can of Pork N' Beans that had been overcooked for way too long...sadly, we were expecting some homemade baked BBQ beans here.
The decor is fun, the individual Jelly Belly candy you get with your check is cute, service is SLOW, but friendly, and the food is not the best...if you should stop by here, your best bet would be to order PULLED PORK with slaw, it's pretty good.
