| - I was familiar with Ohh la la from a Yelp event, but due to my lack of quadrant knowledge, I thought they were located by Chinook. So my eyes popped open as I pulled into the parking lot for my haircut to find Ohh La La in the same complex.
During the length of my haircut I had a little song of "Marcarons, Marcarons I am gonna eat all the Marcarons," on repeat. And eat all the Marcarons I did!
I rushed across the parking lot and into the shop, there was only one other customer in there who had placed a large order for a birthday, so I wandered about while the girl serving finished up with him.
It doesn't look like your average bakery, it kind of reminds me of a dental office: super clean, white, minimalist, bright orange accents and these little wall mounted boxes that display baked offerings. The Marcaron chiller? Hub? sits at the far back wall, displaying its heavenly treats, it's not self serve, don't start grabbing them and popping them into your mouth.
The little wall mounted boxes showed me they do a coconut crumble croissant and a variety of other delicious things, But when I was actually present at the till there was barely anything available. Now, this might have been a misunderstanding on my part, perhaps since there is only a little display area at the front, the mass amounts of baked goods are perhaps out hiding in the back. Luckily, I really wanted an almond croissant and fortunately there were two in the basket.
The girl helping me was very friendly, I asked her how you are actually supposed to pronounce marcarons and I think we are both still wrong, but she opened the chiller and got out my selected fare. 6 marcarons will set you back $12.
Now, this is my only concern, what if there is not a baked good mother hub hiding back int he kitchen, The marcaron chiller was also low on flavours like chocolate (1 remaining) and there were only a couple croissants available. For a bakery on a Saturday at 11 am, shouldn't you have ample stock?? This should be when you have the most stuff cause you just made it.
Anyways, the croissants and the marcarons here are mouthwatering, without a doubt, 100% fantastic. You can taste the quality and care that the chef has put into every ounce of it,
It's not cheap, my two croissants and 6 marcarons came to $19, but you are paying for top notch pastries.
