  • STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE We bought about 6 items from this place over the past year. They have a lot of interesting items and we really liked their selection. But then we had one very bad experience that exposed Bill the owner's true shady, unprofessional nature. We purchased a sleeper loveseat and paid an extra $40 to have it delivered. Of course I assumed that if I pay for moving, they would send someone at least somewhat competent. Instead, they sent 2 small teenagers. They could barely handle the loveseat. They didn't have it tied down and secured, so even before they got it in the house the internal frame fell out a couple times. They didn't have any rope to secure it. They didn't have a screwdriver to remove the legs. They didn't have a tape measure to check the width of the doors. (I provided them with the screwdriver and tape measure; I did not have rope since I just recently moved into the house). They didn't have the basic strength to comfortably lift the modestly sized item. They managed to get it through the front door, but getting it into the upstairs room had them completely baffled. So, they called Bill. Bill came over and helped take off the legs and then helped lift it upstairs. He knocked over a ceramic sculpture and said "whoops" then kept going with no apology. Finally they got the thing upstairs. So after they left I noticed they had put scratches all over the front door, and 3 deep gouges in the wood floor. It was a new wood floor, refinished and resurfaced one month before. So we called Bill. He had the following excuses: 1. Why didn't we point it out when they were still there? 2. People are expected to clear the area of breakable things so no apology is warranted for breaking the sculpture. 3. The delivery fee is only for taking things to the first floor, not the second floor. 4. The $40 was a discounted price (instead of $50) since we are good customers. 5. All sales are final, no returns ever. Obviously none of these excuses are acceptable. Whether I noticed the scratches as they happened or later doesn't alter the fact that they did the damage. I assume the gouges happened when I was going to get them tools and they were trying to puzzle out how to get the legs off. The second floor thing was never mentioned, but even so, all of the damage occurred on the first floor, in the entrance of the house. A $10 discount on delivery does not excuse the serious damage that was done. if i was given a choice between competent, professional delivery, or clumsy, destructive delivery and a $10 discount, I would certainly pay the extra $10. The all sales final thing I think was his way of saying even if they couldn't manage to get it upstairs we were going to be stuck with it. Anyway, finally Bill grudgingly agreed to come over and fix the damage. He claimed to have a way to fix it. But then he didn't show up the day he was going to, and then dodged my phone calls after that. It's a couple weeks later and I'm giving up on it. We got screwed by a dishonest businessman and his incompetent employees. There isn't much I can do about it at this point since I'm not a litigious person. But the least I can do is write this review to hopefully warn other unsuspecting people about what to expect if you choose to deal with this store.
