| - To be honest, I chose to come here b/c Goyemon was two doors down. Despite my maligned priorities, I still got a good haircut from here!
I had to give it a few days before writing this review, b/c I had to let the haircut "settle" before judging. I don't style my straight, stiff Asian hair in any way. Too lazy. So I really need a cut that basically styles itself. I had grown out my hair for the last 6 yrs or so I was really looking forward for a new cut. My main goal was volume and shape. I forgot to ask my stylist for her name, but she was this really sweet latina/filipina transplant from LA. She seemed to know what she was doing. She gave me a shoulder length, blunt layered look so that my hair would naturally be pushed up by my shoulders to give it volume. Clever. I usually go for the more razor thinned out layers, but she said to do it this way to keep it thicker. The bangs are the best part. She did side swept and to be honest, I've never got my bangs to look so good with so little maintenance. And as far as the layers, she put a lot of time perfecting it...I couldn't believe I only paid $15.
The main reason my experience did not rate more stars is b/c this is also the most painful haircut I've gotten. She ran the comb very quickly through my hair and I was jerked around a lot. She also apologized every time this occurred, but continued doing so. I avoid getting haircuts often b/c of this very reason. I don't complain b/c I don't want to annoy the stylist and have her not want to take the time at the end to really clean up my cut. And this stylist invested a long time perfecting the look, which I'm grateful for. The overall shape being good and the price being dirt cheap for the time my stylist spent on me, makes Bestcuts a good recommendation!
