So I finally decided to try the Farmhouse Restaurant in Gilbert since so many people rave about it. Their biscuits and gravy come without eggs, there's barely any sausage in the actual sauce and the pepper isn't fine so I keep getting hot spots as I eat it. I guess it's better than the overbearing taste of flour.
Also, the coffee tastes like its grains have been recycled. I did however ask for more since the meal is so crappy. Something to keep me busy while my toddler is eating (yes, I'm sitting in the restaurant as I type this)..... which brings me to my next point. His eggs and bacon taste ok. Can't really screw that up since it doesn't require much skill. The homemade pancakes however, taste like PURE flour. Took a bite and spit it out. I feel bad for my kid having to eat them but at least I ordered chocolate chips to be added so it's keeping him happy.
The OJ tastes like the frozen Minute Maid crap you get in the Walmart freezer section.
The only reason I'm not giving this place 1 star is because of the friendly waitress and decor.
!!!!!!Update!!!!! ---- As I was getting ready to leave (only after Paying and tipping, of course) an elderly woman approached me and asked: Did you do something on Yelp?
Awkwardly I say: Yes, I left a review.
Woman: You know, I get it straight to my phone (shows me phone).
Me: Ok......
Woman: These reviews can really knock us down.
Me: I reviewed my experience.
Woman: The chef used a coarser pepper.
Me: Ok.....
Woman: These reviews come to my phone and people see them.
Me (slightly annoyed): I spoke to my experience.
Woman: Is there something we can do to make your experience better?
Me: No, we won't be back. Have a great day.
Here is a word of advice to the woman who approached me today:
1) ALWAYS introduce yourself.
2) Don't wait for people to write reviews in order for you to know how they feel. Look at the face of your customers. Walk around your restaurant. Greet people, ask them how they're doing.
3) Be active in your kitchen. Interact with your chef. Taste the food. Know exactly what your patrons are eating.
4) Never put an unhappy customer in an awkward position by asking if there's anything you can do to help. Have a solution ready.
This experience leads me to wonder just how true these yelp reviews really are. By far the most awkward experience I've ever had.
I now give this place 1 star.
