  • Shows that typically fall within this genre are usually sappy, poorly produced, staffed with musicians that have no passion, etc...Well ladies and gentlemen, THIS show is the exception. I caught Between The Lines with some other friends, 2 of the group are big music fans and also very critical of live music and concerts....I was one of those 2 people. Everyone in our group absolutely loved this show, and honestly...I usually hate shows like this. Between The Lines is in a lovely theater. The moment you walk down the hallway toward the theater, you get a sense that you are entering into a special place. The theater itself is very well designed for a very up close and personal connection with the audience. The T-shaped/catwalk stage brings both Clint, and the musicians into the audience. No bad seats in this already somewhat intimate theater. Beautiful, creative lighting set the mood for each song. The musicians are absolutely stellar. Every one shines in their own individual way, and are allowed to not just be robots playing the notes. They feel the music, are true pros, and it shows during every minute of the show. I understand several of the players are Lincoln Jazz Center musicians, so you know the talent level is extraordinary. Clint Holmes is a passionate singer/performer. This too, could come off as some cheesy Vegas lounge act BS, but it doesn't. Clint's passion doesn't come off as forced, it feels true to the heart and genuine. You really get the sense that his singing and stories are directed specifically at you, even though you are in a theater with hundreds of people. The songs range from covers, to originals, to his one and only top 40 hit that reached #2 on the Billboard charts in 1973. Another extremely strong point that carries throughout the show are the arraignments. Many similar shows drop the ball in this category. Not here...the arraignments for Between The Lines are smart, crisp, fresh, and not cheesy at all. Oh, and the sound quality within the theater...top notch. The vocals come across crystal clear, you can understand every word that is spoken and sung, the levels between the instruments, the vocals, were spot on. Everything absolutely crystal clear!!! This show is part of a dying breed in Las Vegas, and there are some mediocre options out there. THIS show however, is well worth the price of admission. You could tell the audience was quite please as they exited the theater. This really is a multi-generational crowd-pleaser! A rare find on the Las Vegas Strip.
