I am very disappointed by the downturn I have experienced at Marriott brands recently. This place is under construction and over 200 a night.
The parking is 30 a night - Typical for a big city, and I don't mind spending the money if the place is nice but this place has issues.
The checking went smooth - quick and friendly, but my room was another story. The configuration was terrible. No real work area. No sofa, and no sink in the bathroom. Seriously you have the sink and vanity in the hall / closet. Ok no big deal since it was just one night but things got worse.
The Internet connection was awful like the old dial up days. I'm sure these places are run by senior executives who have no idea what a VPN is or a team viewer session is. Totally failed. Could not be done.
So I give up and decide to order some fresh fruit from room service at 10:15. To bad for me the kitchen is closed. I guess I could go wander the streets of Toronto but hey it's 10' below zero with 25 mile winds.
If that's not enough finally sleeping soundly when the fire alarm goes off. It goes off at about 1:35a and continues for about 45 minutes. Those of you that know me know I'm not leaving. This room had a balcony so as a last resort I would just wait it out on the balcony, but no need this is a false alarm. It takes 30 minutes to figure hat out, then 15 minutes to advise the hotel guest everything is really ok. Ug :-(
Now I'm leaving early so I jump in the shower, no hot water. When I get out the towels are like sand paper.
Never again,
What a dump.
