3.5/5
I've been here two or three times. They have a fixed menu to choose from, with various teas and sandwich/dessert tiers. Vegetarian/Gluten-free options available. We also ordered champagne (moet).
The hotel itself is gorgeous. Walking in you could feel the history of this old building, trimmed with embellishing wallpaper, chandeliers and paintings. Here's the run down of our tea experience:
- We sat in a private cozy room, it was a very tight space - just enough for 12
- A lot of food! We were quite full and had leftovers.
- The food was a nice variety. Very light in flavours.
- We each received our teas and appetizers at different times. (Very sporadic, some received their tea much later than others).
- The servers were friendly and continual with hot water refills.
- You could tell that everything was used previously. It adds a vintage feel, but makes you question the quality of their China. We all received different tea pots, some of them were chipped.
- The tablecloths were wrinkled... Such a small detail, but would make a huge difference (see my photos).
Nevertheless, I've had enjoyable times here and the service is always great. I wouldn't describe it as a luxury experience- definitely a classic one.
Tip: Don't fill up on the scones, save room for the desserts!
