We have been here several times. There are plenty of reliable Thai options in the area. Komol stands out because it is very reasonably priced, big enough that there is never a long wait to get a table, and there are very good vegetarian options. The heavy wood-bound menus are a nice touch.
Get the Thai iced coffee or tea. Service is ususlly on the slow side, so I always start with a Tom Kha or Tom Yum small soup (good opportunity to go vegetarian even if you go with meat for the entree). The curries are great for sharing. The noodle dishes are very good. I like that they organize the entrees by type of meat. Lots of interesting seafood items.
Overall, it's hard to recommend anyone drive across town for the experience, but it's a lot easier to get into than Lotus of Siam, in the same parking lot, and it's a good place to start a night downtown, or near the strip. We usually stop in before we see a show at the Onyx Theater.
