  • We took a weekend trip to Calgary and wanted to stay in South Calgary to be close to the Deerfoot Casino. Since I had Airmiles points that were going to expire, I decided to have a look at their website. This hotel was a great location and I decided to book it. I read reviews prior to booking so I decided to redeem more points for a room in the Atrium instead of the Tower and had to price for the taxes which was just over $30. Because I booked through Airmiles I wasn't able to get my Marriott points. When we arrived, I went in the Tower to check in. The guy working at the front desk was very friendly and he provided me with a map and pointed out the 2 pools, restaurants, and the walkway between the 2 buildings. We drove across the street to park outside of the Atrium building. There wasn't a lot of parking but there was a spot near the front doors. When we walked in, I didn't see any elevators but a set up stairs which we walked up to our room on the second floor. Good thing we didn't have any large luggage with us. Later, I saw the elevator was behind the stairs. The room overlooked the pool area and if there's a crowd, it can get noisy. The room was large and near the door was a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee/tea area. The bathroom offered lots of counter space and shelves for all the your toiletries. The shower was large but there was no tub. In the closet was one bathrobe so I guess they want guests to share. There's also a long desk and lots of space to put stuff. There was also a chair and a stand for a book, and a sofa. The king bed was comfortable with ample pillows and a movable light on each side of the bed which is great to use for reading. The temperature in the room was cool so I was happy there was temperature controls I could use. The next morning to check out, it was a long wait. Unfortunately, there was only staff person working the front desk. She did apologize when it was our turn and she was friendly. After checking out, we went to the Sunday buffet which runs until 1PM. It was about half full when we arrived shortly after 11AM. I checked in on Yelp and received 10% off the buffet price of $19 which was reasonable. There was lots of food for the pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages, and potatoes. The eggs weren't very hot so I didn't have much but I did have a made to order omelette which was too greasy for my liking. I liked there was lots of fresh fruit including large pieces of honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, and pineapple. There was also yogurt, cereals, and I think oatmeal. The location was great being close to MacLeod Trail where there's shopping and restaurants. It was also a short drive to Heritage Park and easy to get on Deerfoot to come to/from Edmonton. Enjoyed our short stay at this hotel!
