  • Escape Room now in Pittsburgh- in Greenfield! The location is in a bit of a random area, residential with some street parking and few local bars. He had reserved for our game online- we picked Prison Escape (other is Dr. Stein's Lab). Prison Escape caps out at 6 players, and the lab at 8. The weekend games sell out pretty quickly so reserve in advance! We were only a group of 2, so we joined a game with 4 others, and it was fun working together. You are put in prison (like the game title), and you have a series of puzzles you need to solve in order to get out. There are also hints if you need. You have an hour to get out, and according to the staff member, most do not escape. The reason it is 4 stars/5 for me is because due to the group size and puzzles hidden everywhere, I didn't really have a good idea grasping what was going on for a good portion of the time- if someone solved something on their own, I didn't get to think it through because we were concerned with our own puzzle. I also expected the hints to be a puzzle in itself, but it was a direct answer, pretty much. The game was kind of all over the place, and I think a group of 4 would have been perfect. Although, on the flip side, it would be hard to gauge how hard to make a game since each team that plays is going to be different. The rooms are designed so no one needs any prior or particular knowledge to break out. They told us most do not make it out, but I did not think it was too tough such that people got discouraged (there are also hints). Since we got out of Prison, we would not be able to try this game again (obviously), so I'll definitely try Dr. Stein's Lab. From a psychological standpoint, it would be interesting to see the progression of each team and their responses- maybe Escape Room can do a beer night with selected clips?
