| - Came here after reading all the glowing reviews. I didn't get to see Dr. Raymond who everyone is raving about - and I believe I will return when I can afford to specifically request a traditional treatment with him (which I believe is $100 by the looks of the website).
I had the 60min foot massage/30min back massage combo for $50.
The place was very clean and pleasant. More so than most other Chinatown spas, which was a very pleasant surprise. The towels were all very clean and fresh, and also very *not dingy* - a problem common to those a types of places, but not at Suiki thankfully!
My attendant was very polite and administered a very serviceable foot & body massage. She obviously had training in traditional methodology, and she had very strong, sure hands. I'm used to a good deal of pressure, but there were moments where I almost had to ask her to lighten up. But I'd much rather that than have a wimpy massage! This was not wimpy!
The main critique was that I paid for 90 mins, and was done in just over 60. I don't have a great deal of money to spare, so when I do save up to have some bodywork done (I work retail, so I'm on my feet all day) being shorted is extremely disappointing.
My only other quibble other than being shorted time, was that the tea was served in a styrofoam cup. Environmental concerns aside, hot things in styrofoam make me cringe since all the toxic chemicals leach out when heated. But the tea was served with some small snacks which was nice.
Overall this was a pleasant experience, though while I'd return to see the skill of Dr. Raymond, I don't think that I'll return for the foot/back massage after being shorted almost 30 minutes. There are other places I can go for about the same price where I know I will get my full dollar's worth.
