  • Being a local I don't stay at hotel casinos often. However when work calls, it's a nice way to experience living in a hotel & see what it has to offer. The Golden Nugget is located in the heart of Fremont St. in 'Old Vegas' as some call it. This place is great because it's near everything you need and want especially when it comes to weekend festivities. The hotel casino area is ok. It feels crowded at times simply because the table areas are close to one another. Their slot machines are a mixture of new & old. However you won't find or hear the coins falling from the machines. I did notice that table games, namely craps, increase their table minimum, not by the time of day, but by the amount of players joining the game. They do offer the 'make em all' bet on craps which some casinos have done away with. The hotel does offer a gym that is included in the resort fee, which is something I believe all casinos are now doing. The gym is located on the Spa level in the Spa tower. The gym is located in the spa separated by cardio equipment & a weight room. The gym has free weights up to 60lbs, medicine balls, a smith machine, 2 benches & a dozen machines. It's pretty cramped in there w/ just about 4-5 people in there. No air circulating so you're gonna work up a sweat. The hotel has plenty of restaurants to choose from along w/ a couple Starbucks. It also has a club to enjoy music. The rooms are broken up into 3 towers. I was placed in the Carson tower. The room I would compare to a Motel 6 type of look & feel. Everything is outdated. Depending where your room is facing it's going to be hot in there even when the air conditioning is at 60. The bed though is comfy. No refrigerator, but if you want one it's $30 a night! They do offer the traditional shampoo, conditioner & lotion. Also apart of your resort fee you get 2 bottles of water a day, free internet for 2 users, gym access & a couple other perks. If you're here just to have fun, it doesn't matter what your hotel room looks like. Come have fun! But if you're looking for plush items & more amenities the Golden Nugget isn't for you.
