First of all let me say... Our server Kelsey (whose twin sister also works there) was utterly amazing! You need to ask for her when you visit. Not only will she assist you in every way she can, she also is very informative and knowledgeable about the restaurant and menu.
Kudos Kelsey!
Now the food..OMG! So since it is Charlotte Restaurant Week 2015, I chose New South because it's menu was more conducive with my company's pallette..lol. The pork spring rolls were perfect and non greasy. They filled with smoky flavor and very juicy. The dipping sauce was sweet with a sneaky spice kick. There was a pickled red onion slaw that added the needed sour acidity.
I had the fried green tomatoes. Since they pretty much taste the same anywhere, I did like the horseradish sauce that accompanied them. They were sliced perfectly so that you don't look like a salvage slurping the juices while chewing.
Course 2
Exquisite Rainbow Trout seared to perfection and crispiness. It was paired with collard greens and a roasted pepper medley. My plate... the SUPER moistened meatloaf made with grass fed beef. Oh yeah, did I mention ALL OF THEIR INGREDIENTS COME FROM LOCAL FARMS?! OH YEAHHHHH! It's like even if you wanted to cheat and wanted something fattening that you shouldn't.. it's still healthy and pretty much organic.. so no guilt!
By the time dessert came, I was fat, full, and almost completely lazy! There was pound cake served with homemade vanilla espresso ice cream and marinated peaches.. again OMG! Powdered Beignets...somebody loves me! Kelsey mentioned one more detail that just sent me over the edge.. COMPLIMENTARY chocolate truffles! Look I know how this review must read however you HAVE to go and EXPERIENCE New South Kitchen.
