| - Tricky for me to review this location. I had to move from my beautiful one bedroom suite at the Grand Chateau to a tiny hotel room, so that was hard and might be part of the problem, but I also have stayed at multiple Springhill Suites, as well as other Marriott properties and I have to say this was my least favorite thus far.
POSITIVES:
I will say that the location is pretty good, especially if you are going to a convention at the convention center, but it's also not too far from other casinos and the North end of the strip.
The hotel is nicely appointed with high ceilings, modern colors and decor when you walk in. The desk staff was friendly and the check in was handled appropriately.
The restaurant was outstanding. We ordered several appetizers during the happy hour and they were delicious: hummus plate, steak sliders (oh, so good), and buffalo chicken tenders. The ladies working the bar/restaurant were amazing. My husband remarked that he felt like he was in a 5 star restaurant with the attention we go. The food came out quickly and we felt well taken care of. I would actually come back here to eat if I was not staying here! This was probably my favorite thing at the Springhill Suites.
I found our bed to be VERY comfortable. It was a little softer than I'm used to, but I sort of felt like I was sleeping in a cloud and I liked it!
Parking is ample and easily accessible AND FREE.
LESS POSITIVE:
I hated my room. It was a very awkward layout and I looked up pictures and it appears that we weren't special, but that is their standard layout. there is a living area and it is separated from the sleeping area with a desk that has a divider over it that can be slid open or shut. that was probably the best part of the design. The television is in between the living and sleeping areas (as is common these days) so pretty much the way it is set up is that you cannot watch TV comfortably from ANYWHERE in the room. The "Kitchenette" was pretty much a built in cabinet with the tiniest refrigerator ever, a tiny coffee maker and an ice bucket. Again, I've been in many Springhill Suites and they usually have a decent sized refrigerator and a sink at the very least - having to use the non-draining bathroom sink for drinking water, etc. was kind of blech. The space was not well used and it was almost pointless.
The bathroom was broken into two separate rooms. One held the toilet and the tiniest sink ever and the other had a normal sink area and a shower. While they leave little cards telling you to hang up your towels to conserve water, there is NOWHERE TO HANG A TOWEL. They have them on shelves. Who is going to fold up a wet towel and put it on a shelf? BIZARRE In the toilet room they do have a hook for a hand towel by that sink. Then each of those two bathrooms face the bed and have opaque glass sliding doors (that squeal loudly). So, if you get up to use the bathroom at night, you WILL wake up whoever else is sleeping unless they sleep like the dead. It's seriously ridiculous. Both sinks drained slowly. Also, both the sink and shower reeked of mildew and the shower head was not properly on so it squirted water all over the place. I love when you tell a manager about a problem and they say, "you should have told us sooner so we could fix it". First of all, your cleaning person KNOWS that shower head is jacked up and if they don't know, they didn't clean the shower, so maybe that is who you should chastise versus the guest who doesn't want to hang out with the handyman while they are on vacation!
The AC turns off if you don't move around so it gets hot in there and the light over the bed ticked when you turned it off. Except for the couches being stained, that's about it for the room.
The pool was fine, but it's postage stamped sized and no jacuzzi which was a huge bummer for us. Shame on me for not researching better though.
Free breakfast buffet was okay, but not as good as others I've had... we even went out and paid for breakfast one day rather than eat there. This hotel must have a ton of rooms, though because the buffet has the largest number of guests at it of any I've ever been to and they provide a ton of room for it. Good for them. We just didn't care for any of the meat they made and they have a person make waffles on the weekend, but the waffles are cold and hard by the time you get one unless you can score the opportunity to have her make you a fresh one. The rest is just your standard free buffet stuff. Nothing special. Easy when you need to fill the void.
Overall, this place is fine. For me, I won't stay there again because it does not have the amenities I'm looking for like a jacuzzi, a refrigerator that would fit anything in it, and a room that makes sense. But, if all you need is a clean place to lay your head, this might be the place for you.
