| - Wow. I used to be a member here until they jacked up the rates to $92/month 3 years ago. I recall it being a pretty good gym - nice, clean. But wow has it gone downhill. What the heck happened????
First, I came as a guest of someone, who didn't have guest privileges, but was told voluntarily that she could bring someone if she wanted. She didn't ask, they just told her. So when I show up as her guest, there's some sort of 3rd degree of 'who told you that' and 'what did they look like' all while I'm standing there feeling bad for existing in that space and making my friend go through this ordeal. Club1, thanks for making me feel welcome at your gym. I would very much love to join now. Honestly, I'm one person, going to spend 45 minutes at your gym for one day. LET.IT.GO.
I took a class with my friend, and the class itself was pretty good. I felt like I got a good workout. The guy was enthusiastic (maybe a bit too much, but who am I to judge?) However, the shape equipment and the room was pretty bad. It took a pretty long time to get the stereo working, and we started 5 minutes late. The floor was worn, and there were weird stains on the ceiling. My weights were falling apart. I went to get some water and I peaked into the main exercise area, and it just was sad.
I'm glad I ended my membership at this gym. Not just because of the price, but because this place is just awful now. Don't join this gym. Literally, 1/4th a mile down the street is LA Fitness, - the location that used to be Urban Active. It's way better, way bigger, way nicer, way cheaper, and way friendlier. I once brought a guest, and the lady was on the phone and couldn't sign my guest in, and just waved us through. THAT is welcoming customer service.
