Was recently stranded at the Charlotte Airport overnight this past July 15 after my American Airlines flight was delayed, delayed, delayed, and then cancelled.
While I wasn't excited about my plight, I settled in and was prepared to tough it out WHEN at midnight, an announcement came over the PA. It invited all of us stranded passengers to come to Concourse D where we were given a sealed plastic bag with a fresh blanket/pillow passed out by the most pleasant Lady Chaplain and a fold out cot by an equally pleasant young man.
I will contrast the hospitality I received at Charlotte's airport vs the callous treatment my family recently received at the Newark airport when we were stranded there overnight due to United Airlines last minute flight cancellation. We were forced out of the gate area and made to go to the unsecured commons area of the Newark Airport.
