It's a hotel bar, so you might not even need to read the review. This is a complex 3-star rating.
This place is a bit different than the regular hotel bars that people in Arcadia/N.Scottsdale seem to frequent. Mid-century modern architecture is nice to look at, and I could tell my girlfriend liked being in a fancier place for once.
The happy hour is pretty great. And by great, I mean it moves the restaurant fare into an affordable hemisphere. Drinks become less than ten dollars and you can get some grilled vegetables for about six bucks more. Anything beyond appetizers will set you back dearly, but the cooking staff seemed to be competent (even though I wouldn't know, I only had some grilled veggies.)
The hotel does a little wine-tasting/chef meeting event that costs about 60 bucks per person but would be really cool for people looking to do more than just pay out the nose for drinks and a steak elsewhere.
This place lost a star for the (can't believe I'm going to say this) behavior of the wait staff. I heard more than a few of the people talking shit about customers seated outside or at the other end of the bar, and chatting about their personal lives with each other. I'm all about hating on dress codes and regulations at work, but you should know if the place you work at charges twelve bucks for a cocktail, a little more is expected of you.
The bar has TV's but they are very poorly placed, just part of the difficulty of transforming an older spot into a newer attraction I suppose.
If you aren't staying at the hotel, there are plenty of places I'd rather hit in the area.
