| - When I booked I chose this place because the location, the kitchen, and that the price was reasonable. That is enough to make me consider staying here again if I come back to Calgary. Unfortunately, they put me in the worst possible room it seemed, on the ground floor (partial basement, really, as half the unit was below ground) by the front door. The front door is heavy and it's loud when it closes, very loud. If it weren't for my earplugs I wouldn't have been able to concentrate or sleep. Some of the other people staying at the hotel would have convos on the landing a few steps up from me and I could hear their conversations clearly, too, even if they weren't being particularly loud.
Being on the first floor also seemed to put me where the housecleaning supplies were so I heard staff coming and going for that regularly. I don't know if that can be avoided and I probably wouldn't have minded had I not also been annoyed by the front door being so loud. Oh, and the unit's window was on ground level, as this floor is partially underground. And it looked out onto the path in front of the front door so I could see people coming and going from the hotel and they could look right into the room--if I had opening the blinds, which I didn't as I didn't want random people looking into my room. I like some sun so that was disappointing.
I did get the cheapest level room when I booked and if the other rooms cost $30-$40/night more I don't know if getting a room here just because it had a kitchen would have been worth it. When you book make sure to ask for a room not near the front door and not on the 1st floor.
