| - My fiancé and I were engaged for almost a year, and planned on a Vegas wedding. No muss, no fuss. We decided finally to just spontaneously take off with no plans and just do it. We always planned on getting married at 2 or 3 in the morning. After getting our marriage license, we found A Little White Chapel, which advertised 24 hour weddings. We called them up at about 1100pm and they said everyone was gone for the day and they could get it done at midnight, but there would be no photographer, I couldn't get a tux, etc. The one person there was it. That was my major gripe! They said it was the off season and they weren't a 24 hour operation during this time of the year. Well, then....don't advertise it! Lol....simple concept.
We got married there at 9am the next morning instead. What do you get? Well...a cheap, somewhat cheesy Vegas wedding. A boom box playing the wedding march, no rehearsal, etc. But that's what we expected...quick, cheap, cheesy, but memorable.
The minister, Henry Sneed, was kind and well spoken, I got my nice tux and the photographer seemed knowledgeable and nice (still haven't got our pics yet, so I don't know the quality). No real hiccups in the whole process. All the staff was pleasant.
The most important part was getting married to my best friend in a real wedding ceremony...on a shoestring budget. With the $100 tux rental and a $60 donation to the minister, a bouquet for the bride, padded folder for our marriage certificate, we got outta there for just over $400.
Cheesy, but special! It wasn't an opulent, fancy affair, but it was still OUR day and one we'll remember for the rest of our lives and a story to tell all our friends and family!
So...my advice...if you're looking for a spontaneous, inexpensive, crazy, spur of the moment place to get married, go for A Little White Chapel! If you're looking for a planned, traditional, everything happening on time, organ playing, etc...hit up one of the hotel chapels or something. Plan it, make reservations, get a fancy cake, send out invitations, spend some money and do all of that traditional stuff! Not here though...just make it official and make it about the marriage and not the wedding.
Like I said, my only complaint was not having our 2am wedding. Other than that, I loved the experience! They did a good job! Remember the most important part...exchanging your vows...getting married! Don't stress the small stuff! Just do it!
