| - I find it fitting that right after I reviewed the Roosevelt, I review Hanny's. Hanny's is a spacious and modern space in downtown Phoenix which used to house one of Phoenix's first department stores. The first time we came in here was because The Roosevelt has stopped serving food (a whopping two hours before they were scheduled to stop serving food) and one of their waitresses suggested we mosey on over to Hanny's instead. While the vibe is a little too corporate/ Euro-centric modern chic for me, they do have a great bar and they also have one of my favorite sandwiches in town: their prime rib sandwich with apple-wood smoked bacon, arugula, aioli, and fried egg served with crispy onion straws was delicious, but unfortunately, a little inconsistent. The meat seems to be at its best the earlier you come, but if you walk in around midnight, it can be just a little too dry. 3.5 stars rounded to 4 because of good service, nice big space, and late kitchen hours (rare for downtown).
