  • I've gone back and forth on whether to give three or four stars to Cost Cutters in Verona. I've gone with three and I'll tell you why. I've gone to a locally owned Aveda salon and spa for my hair and other needs most of the time since moving to Madison a few years ago. Generally the job there was stellar and getting to be a hair model for the owner and a comped cut, color, and style that time rocked! However, I don't believe in a triple digit amount due for hair every four weeks, the time frame my hair now demands. So I was in the market for a new lower cost place when I remarked on a coworkers hair, and she told me she gets it done at CC Verona, by whomever happens to be working. I called and asked for a free consultation. Aislinn booked me for one with no hesitation. When we went through what I'd been doing at the salon/spa and what it would cost at CC, it's the same. I had come for the 24/7 foils my coworker mentioned. But for what is unclear to me still, I was told I could not get that but would need a full panel. I went ahead and booked a simplified hair session for another day. The work Aislinn did, at this point a day after the service, looks good. She did a simplified blowout also. I give her five stars and recommend her to you as she is polite and professional as well. But be super clear on what you want. I'm still unclear as to why I couldn't get the 24/7 foils. Maybe I have a giant melon head and therefore need the full panel? Stars off for the pricing. When I hear the name Cost Cuters I presume services are discounted for the budget minded consumer. The hair cut, the foils, the base color, the same as what a level five, six, or seven stylist is at the Aveda salon. Other potential negatives -staff stop working on you to answer the walk ins and the phone, as well as consult with each other -first come first serve, as in walk ins are a priority over appointment times if the walk in walks in a step before you. So flexible appointment times is what you should consider your appointment time. -price confusion. There are signs all over the store offering special prices on things but I feel those are to give the illusion of lower pricing then being an actual savings.
