I am excited to review this business. I am going to assume that there are so few reviews due to the lack of care that most have for this Company and their lack of care that they have for the people that they are working with. We recently sold our home in Phoenix and we utilized Equity Title Agency to process our sale and unfortunately we choose poorly. To make a long winded story short - Equity Title made a mistake or as they like to call it "was inadvertently not included" in our contract due to the amount of funds needed to pay the buyers of our home. We spent an entire morning combing through a 50+ page contract on what we owe, why we owe it, when to pay and where to sign - being assured the entire time that the agent helping us understand the jargon being placed in front of us was done correctly and assured us further that we will pay roughly $400 to make certain that the contract and amount we are signing is correct. My husband and I like any good buyer and seller sat and looked as detailed as we could, understood what we could and signed on the dotted line. After we shook hands and took our copy with us we celebrated! We sold our first home and were excited that we got a great price and the buyers were happy as well. Unfortunately about a week later we receive a call from Equity Title saying "Oops, we miss calculated. You owe us $700 to pay to the buyer". My husband and I were confused as we had paid and signed for the contract to be done correctly. That is what we had given them our $400 for? No? No is right - their mistake and now we owe. We explained that if we are going to pay the $700 for their miscalculation then we would like a portion of our $400 back that ensured it was going to be done correctly. We figured that was fair. Any good business makes sure they take responsibility for their actions and what product they offer. Well Equity Title does not. We went back and forth trying to reach a compromise and have them understand our side and eventually received a legal document stating "you are under contract regardless if we inadvertently left it out" - pay or we will come after you. I guess the Big Guy always wins. Please do not use this company - be aware of our story and be aware that at any time after you sign on the dotted line and fork over your money they can come back to you and ask for more!
