| - I'll start with the positive; the two guys who showed up were friendly, and one in particular was very helpful, often offering to help set up or take down things. They were also very careful with my belongings, which is why I am giving them an extra star. However, it was a Sunday and the other admitted to being a bit hungover after "too many margaritas with the wife the night before." Anyway, I had everything packed up and color coded, as some stuff was going into storage, and the other was going into an apartment.
Unfortunately, the color coding did not work, as things that were supposed to go to storage ended up in my apartment and vice versa. Somehow, I also lost my Kindle that had been sitting on the counter. I suspect it was tossed into a box...
I had spoken to the owner, a very nice man, and let him know exactly what I was moving and that I was downsizing from a 2200 square foot house to an 800 square foot apartment, and I deferred to his judgment as to whether two or three movers would be needed. He sent two. The move ended up costing me three times the estimate (and, like I said, some stuff was sent to the wrong place), and the one hungover mover kept telling me that I should have had more guys. He also said that the elevator at the storage unit slowed me down. Well, guess what...that's not helpful. I would have had more guys if someone had recommended that when I said what I had to move. And, I guess that elevator cost me a few hundred dollars? Okay...
