I went to Dr. Lanman twice for one of my cat's dental needs. The first time I went, we waited about 15 minutes to get into a room. The tech was okay but not the friendliest. Most places are far friendlier. Then Dr. Lanman came in and did her speech about the Chinese medical herbs and did the "muscle test" other people have written about. She also did acupuncture that made my cat jump, which Dr. Lanman said was because she has kidney problems or an injured back. They took my cat away to do an x-ray and nothing was wrong with her back. After she made a huge list of new food to feed my cat, I asked again about her teeth and if they needed to be cleaned and if any needed to be extracted. Dr. Lanman said as long as I fed her this new diet she wouldn't need any dental work. Hmm, that was strange to me since I had been told by another vet she would need dental work soon. So we left and scheduled a follow-up appointment after my cat had time to take these Chinese medical herbs that were supposed to be a very nasty tasting tea. (I had told her there was no way my cat would drink something that was nasty tasting).
We went back two weeks later and waited an hour and fifteen minutes to even get into a room!!! Completely unacceptable! She did more acupuncture and again I asked about her teeth. Dr. Lanman was using her fingers to feel around my cat's mouth and her long, fake nail caused my cat's gum to bleed since she kept pushing on it! I asked her to stop doing that immediately because she was hurting her and she stopped. Then she proceeded to tell me that sure enough, my cat needed that tooth extracted. I asked her why she told me the opposite at the last visit and she said she didn't remember looking at her teeth. I asked for a discount due to the incredibly long wait and she looked furious with me but finally allowed it. I would never return to this place, again. The complete opposite diagnoses within two weeks does not make me believe she is a good veterinarian. Her attitude regarding the wait and not thinking that mattered was bothering, as well. What cat enjoys sitting in a lobby with 6 dogs barking and being stressed out since everyone was waiting so long? NONE.
