Update... I have went elsewhere to get the work done MOPAR parts and certified mechanics.
I had a $2750 repair quote from Desert 215. The $1950 portion will cost me less than $200 elsewhere. Mostly because the "damaged catalytic converter" is actually just a scratch on the connector pipe 30 inches away from the catalytic converter - no dents!.
Of the remaining $800, There was a line item of $300 to bleed brakes and reset ABS module. According to the Mechanic Labor Guide I looked at, the brake bleeding should have been included in the line replacement. As far as the ABS system reset itself. Looks like a $300 line item for work already done and otherwise not needed. This $800 portion was performed with MOPAR parts and a certified mechanic for $180 elsewhere. (Parts from dealership in the midwest at 30% the cost at Desert 215, included shipping (I did have to wait 4 days).
The entire $2750 quote from Desert 215 will cost me under $400 by going elsewhere.
Because of the brake bleeding in 2 different line items, I suspect there is more 'doubling up' on repair items. This would explain why a previous visit had this shop charging me $500 labor to replace a easily accessed radiator hose..
Years ago I learned that I could go to a dealership to get great work at slightly higher prices. Seems I cannot do that any longer.
