| - Since my bf needs caffiene to function in the mornings, I took the opportunity to drag him to Lux to try out somewhere other than Starbucks. We normally grind beans and brew our own coffee in the morning, and rotate between Starbucks beans and beans from specialty coffee roasters. I wanted to try a latte or macchiato, but since we were in a hurry we went with the Large House Coffee (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lux-phoenix?select=jJcHfe0zVCHuuBLVaHuoGQ#jJcHfe0zVCHuuBLVaHuoGQ), which was a very light and drinkable coffee. It wasn't as flavorful as the coffee I had later on from Cartel. I regret not purchasing beans from Lux to bring home and try, but will have to make sure I do that on my next visit to Arizona. Lux also sells a variety of baked goods, and I purchased a slice of the Raspberry Almond Buckle (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/lux-phoenix?select=jJcHfe0zVCHuuBLVaHuoGQ#WXpjlFSUd3EhNgePXJO_Lw) which was DELICIOUS. I loved the almond-y taste of the buckle, and the fluffiness of the cake. The raspberries also added a slight tartiness which was really nice.
Lux also serves breakfast (along with lunch and dinner), and the menu looked really good! The majority of people in line were ordering breakfast items, so I'm assuming they have some solid dishes. There was a line when I first entered, but it moved pretty quickly. There were plenty of tables to sit at, and it seems like a great place to relax with friends, study, or browse the internet. The staff was really friendly, and the prices reasonable. Parking might be the only drawback, since they have a lot, but it's narrow and doesn't have that many spots.
