| - I am desperately looking for an affordable yoga studio and after reading some of the incredible reviews, I decided to give this studio a try.
It was the worst experience I have had so far with practicing yoga. If I had to use one word to describe my feelings after a yoga session in the past, it would be a state of bliss. Unfortunately, I left this studio feeling frustrated and irritated :/
It wasn't the studio, it was the instructor. To begin with, she didn't know the prices. I read on their website about a discount they offer if 2 members join. Since my friend and I were interested in joining a studio at the time, I had a question about their deal. Anyways, her response was "I just teach here, I don't know about the prices. You can worry about that later". It put me off a little because she didn't tell me how I could get my question answered. Before coming to the studio, I called several times but no answer on the line. I obviously called during their open hours. So, how am I suppose to find out? Come again and hope the next instructor knows the prices?
Now the actual yoga class, which the first class is free. I'm so glad I didn't have to pay for that experience hence the extra star. I have practiced with roughly 10-12 different instructors and never have I felt pressurized by an instructor. Yoga is not a competition. Throughout the session, she was telling other students in the class, "oh come on you can reach further". There is a difference between encouraging and being pushy. I felt she was the latter. There is a reason those students chose the back row (it was also their first day), leave them alone. If they want to push themselves, they will. I found it to be distracting. While flowing, I was hoping she wouldn't make a comment about me. It reminded me of being in school and hoping the teacher doesn't pick on you to answer. Yes! That awful feeling. Seriously, that is not how I want to feel at a yoga class, getting intimidated by the instructor. She came up to me a few times to help fix my stance. Normally, I would appreciate if an instructor did that for me, but I was already so put off by her that I didn't want her anywhere near me.
I really wish I knew her name because the other instructors might be great and it's not fair to them. I went on a Thursday night if that is of any help.
The studio is clean and they have plenty cubicles for you to keep your stuff. The bathroom is located at the back of the class, which is also very clean. I found the studio to be a bit small though, there were 6 students in there and there was probably room for 2-3 more max, if you want to be comfortable in your space.
I would give them at least one chance since the first class is free so you can decide for yourself. I don't know if I will go back again, I will surely update my review if I do. I really was hoping to have a good experience after reading the other reviews, too bad it wasn't.
