REPLACEMENT FOR VONS
The PA system is comfortably in the background until an employee grabs a phone, SHOUTS that so-and-so has a phone call, then SLAMS down the handset. It's very jarring when you are peacefully perusing the selection of lunch meats.
Comfortable temperature! I walked in wearing a hoodie to combat the outdoor chill. Yet, I was comfortable inside this Walmart.
They have Campbell's Chunky soups you never heard of for $1.68. They have Taco Bell taco sauce for $1.34. Cliff Bars are $1.18, whereas Trader Joe has 'em for 99 cents. If TJ can sell an item for 99 cents, WM should offer it for 50 cents. Cliff Bars are tucked away in a small section of the pharmacy area.
The deli has 8 oz. wedges of Parmesan cheese for $3.98. This is preferable to the pre-grated version you find in lunch meat/cheese section.
You can pick up your Walmart orders here.
One visit we had a cashier who nonchalantly had a lengthy discussion with a customer about paying for your items with your phone. Several shoppers were lined up. Totally unacceptable, yet you only hurt yourself getting steamed. Walmart is so desperate for capable employees they will put up with one who clearly damages the company's best interests.
Other times you'll experience typical robotic cashiers. The kid who works in the deli really impressed me when he pointed out the Parmesan cheese. For starters, he knew what Parmesan cheese was!!
Incomprehensible corporate maneuvering brought an end to the Vons where we used to shop. This store is not nice like Vons but it's a reasonable alternative. The selection and prices might keep you coming back. (Update 3/22/16: The vacated Vons will reportedly be replaced by an Albertsons.)
Unlike most retailers, this store doesn't have a customer survey. Not surprising. I really doubt Walmart gives a flying f!&k what their customers think.
