  • As the caregiver of a patient who established care with this practice, I have intimate knowledge and first hand experience. This is a little long but hang in, it's worth it. Let me start by saying, this practice fancies itself as a celebrity practice highlighting its connections with NFL teams and associations. It markets itself as Top Docs AZ (topdocsaz.com) and if you ask them, they believe they have risen to the lofty realm of high society and semi-celebrityhood. Here is our real world experience. First, in order establish as a patient with this practice, they require you to have a full physical with all the baseline tests and labs - sick or not. Sounds good and makes sense to establish a healthcare partnership. Now, after paying for every known test they could come up with (remember, sick or not) and a less than 30 min full physical exam and discussion, you would think that going forward you would have access to your new healthcare partner. After a serious illness out of town that required several days of hospitalization, we contacted our new healthcare partner physician (Nebelsieck) at the direction of the hospital to get in and see our primary doctor immediately, and here is what happened: 1. We called from the aircraft to alert Doctor of current situation and was told the doctor was not around. I get it, doctors take time off, but, MOST GOOD DOCTORS identify a covering physician for their patients. Not so with these guys. No covering doctor, no attempt to get us in with any other doctor in the practice, and here's the kicker, I was told that they wanted to leave early that day. I guess we missed the fine print on the healthcare partnership form where it says EXCEPT FOR WHEN IT'S NOT CONVENIENT? 2. Plan B I asked what hospital Nebelsieck practices out of and where he has privileges since there was a good chance we would end up there. To my amazement, they did not know and here is the telling part - THEY COULD NOT FIGURE IT OUT. Perhaps we should have just gone over to the football stadium where the cool kids hang out, toss the ball around and practice medicine with the celebrities. 3. Moved the conversation to the Office Manager, or so I was told it was the Office Manager and tried again. I again explained the situation, told her we were landing at 4:15PM. I was told to call back after we landed. To my surprise when I called at 4:15PM, the phone message said the office was closed with no way to reach anyone after hours. I guess they really did want to leave early after all. We did get a call back later the next day when someone figured out that there was an open issue and they did fit us in with the Physician's Assistant, not our heathcare partner physician (Nebelsieck), one of the amazing TOP DOC we established care with. That did not happen for another week but I'm happy to report that Internal Medicine of Arizona had NO problem at all billing us for the multiple visits. They managed to get the bill out to the right address on time. The amount of disorganization, confusion and unprofessional behavior was on full display when I asked, in person, who the Office Manager was. The answer I got says it all..... "I think it is Mrs. Kuhl (wife of Dr. Kuhl) but, there is another woman who says she is the Office Manager but, she does not have the title so to be honest, no one knows who the Office Manager is" The lack of professionalism by the doctors, the incompetence of the front office staff and the outright disinterest in patients borders on negligence. Most telling is the fact that the physician (Nebelsieck) was made aware of the issues, in writing, but simply ignored them (if he even saw the letter). This is the behavior of a practice who seem not to care about their patients and are more interested in buying art work for their very pretty waiting room. I'm happy to pay for quality medical care but this is not what we experienced. Do your research, don't make your decision on marketing hype. A bad day with a few mixups in medicine is like a drunk airline pilot. The outcome may not be good for your health.
