| - Normally I wouldn't be caught dead writing a review on a pet store. I am reviewing the service I received at this store, NOT the concept behind Petland or pet stores. I don't support them and I don't support caging or breeding of animals.
This particular visit however, left me pleasantly impressed rather than completely disheartened. Here's why:
One of the staff members, Carmen, and I had a conversation about a lot of my concerns. She explained that since July 2002, Petlands in Calgary have been working with 'Pets For Life', an animal rescue organization based in Pincher Creek. Together with 'Pets For Life', Petland ensures that they feature 2 rescue dogs at all times. That means customers get the chance to adopt dogs who have been rescued by 'Pets For Life'. For this reason, and this reason ONLY, I'm giving Petland 4 stars.
Petland boasts a No Kill policy and I found my conversation with Carmen to be extremely informative.
The puppies that Petland sells however DO come from breeders and regardless of what anyone says, I still don't support that AT ALL.
We all have to make our own decisions about what we'll tolerate and what we wont, but getting more information is an asset for us all.
I'll keep up the good work, I promise ;)
