Just happened to be on a Hot Dog marathon with my Dad from the Chicago area and had to check these guys out. Thanks to Bonnie E. for trying them out earlier and giving me the top secret thumbs up.
This is a really cool Mom and Pop restaurant that is located in an old building from the fifties. The owners are really nice and shared some of the long standing history of this joint as well as providing a unique and interesting atmosphere inside.
The menu here is very simple and has several of the hole in the wall favorites. Three different size Hot Dogs that can be dressed up in several ways. Cheese Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, Italian Beef and Italian Sausage are just a few other choices. They even had a Fish and Chips special on our last trip.
Ordered a Chili Cheese Dog and a couple of Chi Dogs for yours truly. Had to get some Onion Rings to see if they were legit. My Dad went with a Jumbo Chicago Dog special which comes with a side and a drink.
Everything was very good and we both admitted that we would definitely come back again. Looking forward to trying out more of their other items and just kicking back and enjoying the laid back vibe. They even have an old AM radio cranking out some oldies in the background. Nice!
This is one of those places that is not brand spanking new with tons of flashing lights and TV's everywhere. Matter of fact, it reminded us both of going back in time and feeling like we were living happy moments from a past life.
Service is very friendly and the place is very clean and tidy. Food is cooked to order and there can be a small wait. Just kick back and enjoy the ride. Your foot will probably start tapping a tune. Radio just happened to be playing some Partridge Family when we were there. I THINK I LOVE YOU .... !!!
