  • I reserved a mid-size SUV via the Thrifty web site several weeks prior to my trip to Phoenix (05MAY13 - 12MAY13) and, because of the early rental, I got a great deal. When my family and I arrived in Phoenix, we were able to immediately board one of the multitude of rental car shuttles that collect passengers outside of the baggage claim area every couple of minutes. The shuttle took us on a brief ride to a large multi-agency rental car complex that serves the Phoenix airport. The facility was spacious and clean and we were able to quickly locate the Thrifty counter, where there was nobody --- I repeat, nobody --- in line. We walked straight to the counter, listened to the routine drill about insurance (the guy was not pushy at all), signed the papers, and walked out to a row of available mid-size SUVs, where we were able to select a brand new 2013 Ford Escape with extremely low mileage. The vehicle performed beautifully for the duration of our trip (we drove a LOT of miles) and, when we returned it one week later, we were charged exactly what I had been quoted when I made the online reservation. The experience could not have gone more smoothly and I would not hesitate to rent from Thrifty for my next trip to Phoenix. Oh, and one more thing --- there are several easily-accessible gas stations within 2-3 miles of the rental car facility, so do not be afraid to agree to the terms of showing a receipt for filling the car within a ten-mile radius.
