| - Where to start?! I moved back to Arizona and tried to get my children to see Dr. Yvonne Grassl but she was no longer taking new patients. I searched around and read tons of reviews and saw this one had pretty good reviews. I also read their phone system was awful and they weren't lying. I called and left a message and no one ever called me back. I called again a week later maybe 15-20 times and was finally able to get through. Booked an appointment and came in to get my girls taken care of, I have 3 small children 18 months, 2.5 years and 8 years. When I took my children in when they were sick I was talked down to by Dr. Young who spent most of the time telling me how I was a parent and not a doctor and how he was right and I was wrong. I came home and told my husband I did not enjoy the doctor but would give him a chance cause the location was convenient and they never seemed to be busy.
Fast forward to 3 year check ups... the doctor told me my daughter was overweight because she was in the 87% in weight and not 85%... REALLY?! When I told him I wasn't worried because our oldest was much heavier he lit in to me saying that I needed to make her exercise and watch her diet! This kid eats nothing but salad, fruits and veggies! She loves broccoli! Any way he spent the better of 20 minutes lecturing me over her being 2% heavier. Ridiculous! He should look in the mirror! He's no picture of health himself. Then I mentioned how she would hold her stomach when she would eat and her stomach really hurt some times and he completely ignored my comment; God forbid you ask any questions during a "health wellness check up"! They changed the policy so that if pre-existing conditions are found at the "wellness check up" they will bill you TWICE! yep! They have it posted on their wall in the exam rooms. So he basically doesn't want to be bothered by anything because he doesn't get paid much for wellness visits. This made me really mad. I don't care if you bill me twice, answer my questions when it has to do with the wellness of my child!!! Long story short, I ended up taking her to a GI specialist because Dr. Young ignored my plea for help and because I had a PPO I didn't need a referral. Turns out my child had been suffering from constipation for so long she developed "mega colon" which basically means her colon was so enlarged from being backed up that she can NOT tell when she has to go poop. Her nerves are shot and she doesn't get the sensation like you and I do. She ends up having accidents because once she's backed up, the poop eventually makes its way out. I was livid!!! Had Dr. Young listened to me months ago, I don't think we would have been in this predicament but then again he couldn't be bothered right?! Another thing that happened was that I noticed she had problems hearing and requested a hearing test, the doctor did not want to give me one because he said my insurance didn't cover it. I told him I didn't care and I would pay for it. She ended up failing. He made t seem like it wasn't a big deal and again didn't offer any help. I ended up taking her to an children's audiologist specialist which we found out she was only hearing 40% and suffering from tremendous fluid in the ears. HOW HAD DR. YOUNG NOT SEEN THIS THE DAY BEFORE?! He had seen her he day before and never once said her ears were filled with fluid behind her eardrum so bad that her ears were on the verge of rupturing. Again I was livid and this time I was done! I called to speak with the front desk about my issues and the front desk person ended up hanging up on me. Totally unacceptable. I never once received a call back to discuss my concerns. I wonder if Dr. Young is actually a doctor or did he get his degree from a quack medical school?! Also it took MONTHS for the front desk to actually get vaccination records for my kids and over a year for one of my children. This office is a mess and all Dr. Young does is pretend to look in a child's ear and say, "No potatoes" but I doubt he even knows what an ear infection or fluid build up looks like. Also I will add they LOST our strep throat test for my youngest and still charged me for doing it. Instead of redoing a strep test the doctor just called in a prescription for antibiotics but why charge me for the test if they said they accidentally threw it away?! I could go on and on as to why this place is a complete disaster but it just makes my blood boil. I felt like this doctor could have prevented my daughter's suffering ears and GI but he's hardly a doctor and unless you want to risk your child's health, please do your self a favor and go else where. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have questions. I would never recommend this place to anyone who cares about their children's health.
I will say, the only good thing about this office is the medical assistant Carlos. He is amazing and fantastic with children.
