  • Never having been to this golf course before I wasn't sure what to expect but I'd heard good things so I was excited to give it a try. We weren't very lucky with the weather, as the day was insanely windy and bitterly cold, but I'd come armed with 4 layers, a contigo mug of hot tea, and determination to get through all 18 rounds. The clubhouse staff was friendly and cheerful despite the weather and they very kindly switched us to carts that had windscreens before we could get too settled. The driving range is a little off to one side and the balls don't go very far but it was nice to hit a few before we got started. They've got things set up so that they can either start on the front 9 or back 9 holes without you having to go tootling around lost trying to find the starting hole. We started on the back 9 which was a blessing because the back 9 is mostly level, open vistas and easier to manage in the high winds we were facing. The marshall that started us off was chatty and in great spirits despite being stuck outside so all in all the staffing here impressed me greatly with their energy and enthusiasm. They obviously enjoy working there. We survived the first 9 holes and stopped at the clubhouse for washroom breaks (super clean and very nice and warm after being outside for 2 hours), and hot drinks. We grabbed coffee & baileys' from the bar and I'm so glad we did...their coffee is DELICIOUS and with the baileys it just made the front 9 that we were continuing on to play that much more enjoyable despite the weather. Even the bartender was friendly and conversational, and she joked with us about making change for the tip and having to do math in the cold weather. The front 9 holes we were very glad to have had to play after the break because they're all hills, valleys, and water so the peaks sheltered us from the wind and even with having to hike up steep valley/cliff walls to get to our balls we were able to push on fortified with the irish cream coffee... All in all we had a delightful experience, lost a dozen balls, found a dozen balls belonging to previously unlucky people, and went on to have a great round. I don't care that my score was horrid, I had a fantastic time with great company on a delightfully challenging course staffed with people who seemed to enjoy being there as much as I did...next time I just hope it's sunny and 20+ degrees with a light breeze....
