| - A towering, older brick building that's to be reckoned with on Cleveland's east side, my experience here was quite surprising - but in the best way.
I was headed to Cleveland to help out for a work/Yelp party hosted by Cara L and on her recommendation, booked my stay at Tudor.
Upon pulling up and knowing a little bit about the area (I used to live in Cleveland) I was expecting your run-of-the-mill standard stay. Dated rooms yet comfy beds, traditional decor and janky elevators. Not! (Well minus the elevator.)
Check in was quick. Service was stellar. And you gotta love those complimentary warm walnut chocolate chip cookies!
***PARKING NOTE: I originally thought valet parking was complimentary since there's no other option - until I got a $70 bill under my door on my last day! If you're looking for on site parking, forget about it. Valet parking is mandatory and not complimentary. There is no other parking availability nearby so make sure you have cash for tipping and expect a bill at the end of your stay. Seems silly to charge such a fee if there are no other options.
After check in I made my way to my room... up the janky, old and slow elevator... and open the door to a complete surprise!
Well, hello there granite desk/cabinet tops, hardwood floors, firm, comfy beds, amazing, contemporary artwork and a marble covered bathroom! Yowza! I was not expecting that at all but the updates on the rooms here are out of this world! Took me by surprise immediately. Definitely one of the most amazing Double Trees I've ever stayed in that's for sure.
After my two-day stay, the service never faltered in any aspect - from the front desk, to the housekeeping, to the bar staff at the on-site restaurant, The Canopy. That's impressive.
The price is beyond reasonable and the location is ideal if your Cleveland stay involves being east of downtown. Although maybe the rate is so affordable because valet is mandatory if you're driving...
I would come back here to stay again in a heartbeat!
