So I had a hankering for some Korean food and didn't want to drive all the way down to North York and so decided to go to Nak Won in Richmond Hill. We arrived and there was no wait as it is quite a big space. We were asked if we wanted to bbq or just a regular table.
As we had two young kids we decided to just do the regular table. The menu is quite extensive offering traditional fare, Korean bbq and Cinese Korean cuisine. We decided to order the soon dubu chigae, dolsot bibimbap, and the bulgogi dinner.
We were given 6 side dishes but in all honesty of the 6 side dishes only a few were good enough to eat. While it's always nice to get more it's only good if you can eat it. The kimchi was terrible and tasted bad. The potatoes and fish cakes were pretty much the only side dishes that weren't a disaster.
The entrees arrived quite quickly. The tofu hot pot was pretty good in terms of flavours and textures, but slightly on the bland side would have tasted much better with a little more kick to it. All the ingredients were fresh so overall 3.5. The dolsot bibimbap is pretty hard to mess up and tasted just as good as anywhere else so would give it a 4. The bulgogi dinner was good but a bit on the fatty and chewy side. It was marinated okay so overall 3.5.
Overall, it was worth it to not have to drive to north York, but if I could would have given an overall of 3.5. Definitely worth trying if you live in York region.
