I always go to Kanbai when Im craving sichuan food and I've always thought it was decent until I had sichuan food in toronto... In comparison, Kanbai tasted like americanized sichuan food, the food lacked spices and depth of flavour that is intrinsic in sichuan food: everything seemed like it was toned down: the flavours, the variety of ingredients, etc. However, I have yet to find somewhere authentic in Montreal so I must say that I will be back.
Out of all the dishes, I recommend the fried green beans, the fish sauce eggplants and the fish boiled in hot oil.
