  • Yeah. Right. I have had sewer problems for the last year, where the water is backing up into my house in the basement. I've had it looked at several times, each time by a different professional who told me my issue was roots in the yard beyond the trap in the yard. They would snake the drain out there, pull out a mass of roots, and the problem would be temporarily fixed. So when my drain backed up again last weekend, I heard AK's ad on the radio, and decided I was ready to get a more permanent solution. I called to have someone come out and do a camera test beyond the trap in my yard where the trees are, clear out the roots in the pipe, and give me an idea of what it would cost to line the pipe and fix my problem. The two kids from AK that came out had a combined age of about 40. They showed up 2.5 hours late. The lead guy called to tell me he'd be late, but I ended up having to take the whole day off work instead of the morning like I planned. He wouldn't listen to me about what I called and asked for. Insisted that he snake the drain *inside* the house. A few minor roots were pulled out, but nothing substantive. He never even ran water after he snaked the drain to determine if what he did actually worked (spoiler atert: it didn't). After some further probing from me because I knew he had solved nothing, he took his camera outside to the trap. Determined he was unable to see anything, and couldn't do anything further without digging up and replacing the trap. Wouldn't even attempt to snake the drain. Funny how experienced professionals were able to snake that drain, but a child couldn't. He then came back at me with an estimate for $10,200 to line the pipe between the house and the trap and to replace the trap. Again, this isn't what I asked for. Solves literally nothing. Then tells me, only after I have this very expensive repair done can the company see beyond the trap in the yard and figure out what needs to be done. Then he tells me that if they have to replace any piping, it will result in me having to move the trap within 5 feet of the house to be up to code, which means digging a second spot. They'll give me a new estimate after they do the first job. So it's literally $10k for HALF the job. And this pipe lining is supposed to be cheaper than excavating your yard and replacing pipes?! Bottom line: Wouldn't listen to me. Charged me $250 for absolutely NOTHING that helped me in any way. Quote was outrageous. Complete waste of time and money.
