| - Not sure what happened to my original review, however I took myself and 3 other wedding friends to Shimmer Nails on 11/11/16 for manicures and pedicures. Overall the experience was nice for all others, and we were treated to mimosas and they did their best to seat us all together. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. I won't name names as my manicure came out great, however my pedicure has me a bit freaked out. Just one day following my pedicure, my right toenail was swollen, red and painful. My other toe on my left foot was cut by the technician as well. I phoned a doctor on Wednesday and I will never return to this salon for services again.
11/21/16 - as a follow-up to my doctor visit, exactly one week post pedicure, I had to have part of my toenail surgically removed to un-jam the wedge of nail sticking into my skin towards the top of my nail. The doctor explained that when technicians are cutting and pulling the nail up to cut, that nails will sometimes splinter. $50 co-pay, two shots to the toe, 2+ weeks of soaking, bandages, no shoe wearing and just a lot of pain later..I will never have my feet touched again with clippers! on top of all this, the portion of my nail removed will never grow back and now my toenail is slightly (permanently) smaller.
