I went to S & R this past weekend and was surprised at how horrible the quality of the food was. Yes it is cheap, but it's cheap for a reason. All of the greens were wilted, the fruit was mushy, and some of the harder veggies were covered in bruises or had gouges in them. I spent a lot of time digging through all of the bins searching for things that weren't too ripe and I thought I had found a few gems. I was wrong. I bought $60 worth of veggies and 2 packs of "fresh" chicken (with hesitation but the deli clerk told us that the chicken was fresh and local.) I threw EVERYTHING but 3 pounds of tomatoes away after I realized that everything I bought was completely rotten on the inside, including the "fresh" chicken which had a horrible sour smell to it when I opened it ONE day after buying it. The same day I threw everything away I went to a farmer's market in Parma and S & R was there with only super fresh fruits and vegetables (literally ONE day after I went to the store)... I don't understand why they don't also make sure their products are up to par inside their store. This was a very disappointing trip, a complete waste of money considering I literally threw almost everything away.
