Beware - go elsewhere for a broken foot - unless you are interested in working with an insecure, temperamental individual. I went to see Dr Lee Wittenburg for a broken bone in my right foot. He evaluated my X-rays, put on a pretty blue cast and told me he'd see me in 4 weeks. A few days later my foot moved easily from side to side as well as up and down within the cast making it very easy to jolt the fracture causing pain. So I made an appointment to get it changed. Upon arrival at his office the doctor literally pitched a fit about his cast! He took offense that I questioned the quality of his cast and the need to change it. He didn't appear to listen as I tried to explain what I was feeling. He was very unprofessional throughout the visit. I even asked him what was wrong. His response was it upset him to have his many years of experience questioned. I have had several casts over the last 35 years and no one EVER took offense because a cast needed to be changed. My husband witnessed this whole performance and was upset when the doctor accused me of walking on the cast and then questioned me in a public area before we had even gotten into the exam room. Wittenburg never agreed with me that the cast needed to be changed but he made an attempt to remove, re-pad and reuse the first cast. That didn't work so he slapped on a new cast over the weird padding he used to try to fix the first cast. He did make it tighter so I was more comfortable but he was not gracious or supportive in any way. Before posting here I reached out to him with an email and a letter but received no response from either attempt. I was hoping for an apology for the unprofessional behavior but none was forthcoming. I have found a new doctor who evaluated the second cast as acceptable. I never really questioned Wittenburg's skill but his attitude was the worst I have ever encountered in a medical professional.
Seriously, there are lots of better doctors in Las Vegas, I will not go back to Apache Foot & Ankle even to get the cast removed!
