| - This was my first cirque show and I would say it was a pretty solid 3 stars for me. I'm glad I got it through Groupon for a discount because I don't know that I would be satisfied if I had paid more.
So, what is Mystere about? What can you expect?
Well, it's sort of like a strange Parisian old school variety show mixed with a bizarre, cool acrobatic circus that has a creepy baby and some tribalesque dance performances. It's weird, I'm not going to lie. I like weird stuff and enjoyed it, but I wouldn't go again. It was definitely a one and done for me for a few reasons. Although there were some incredible acrobatic, yoga, dance performances, I felt a little bit bored at some points. Maybe it was the long, slow musical numbers in between the more upbeat tracks. Maybe it was the very odd, out of place show fillers like the grown man baby, the old man who was playing tricks on people, and the woman in the onesie running around(who actually did some cool moves on the trampoline towards the end). It was just very disjointed, in my opinion. I don't even really think there was a story line? It was just a lot of neat visuals, people displaying incredible strength, flexibility, and talent, music, lights, and the stuff marijuana fueled dreams are made of. It was a rollercoaster of "I like this" and "I want to leave" for me.
Some highlights were the two strong men. Wow! Talk about strength and dedication to your craft. Their performance was nothing short of amazing. I also really enjoyed the acrobats on the trapeze. I'm a sucker for humans flying through the air in cool costumes. Lastly, I enjoyed the drumming at the end. Everything else in between was just a bit of a snore for me. If you haven't been to a cirque show, definitely check one out. This is more of a dated show, but an original it seems. Another Vegas experience checked off my list. Check!
