An awesome addition to the Southend brewery scene. Wooden Robot is the new kid on the block, but it is bringing some serious heat with it's adventurous brews and a neat space to hang out.
Being a warm Saturday in February, everyone and their grandmother appeared to be out and about - probably to break their spells of watching Netflix marathons. Wooden Robot was no exception and was very busy. I do wish their space was a little larger. They have a more 'natural' vibe with lots of exposed wood and many large glass windows so you can check out the brewing equipment.
As for the beers, they had a wide range of 'classic' brews (think pale ales, IPA's, ect.) and some off the wall brews that caught me by surprise. Probably because the brewmaster has a master's degree in brewing from Scotland. My favorite beer has to be the 'Good Morning Vietnam' which is a coffee vanilla blonde ale. Who knew that a blonde ale could pack so much aroma and flavor? I highly recommend, it might be one of my favorite beers in the city. I look forward to going back and trying their sour and their nitro stout. I also like that they have a small/medium/large option, so you don't have to commit to a full pint if you want to push your beer comfort zone.
In addition to the brews, they also having an awesome food truck with plates inspired and infused with Wooden Robot's beers. I was impressed and cannot wait to see what this place comes up with next!
