| - I was looking for a place near my office to get a pedicure after work. I recently moved from one side of Madison to the other, so it is a hike for me to go to the place where I used to go for a pedicure. Anyhow, I thought Rockabetty's would be worth trying. I checked out their website and reviews. Not awesome, but not totally awful, either. I didn't really have much expectation for the experience.
The try who did my pedicure sure was sweet and interesting to talk to - enough so that I did not look at my phone during the entire time she worked in my feet. I booked a Goddess Spa Pedicure. Their online booking system stated to allow 75 minutes for the service, so I thought, oh yeah, this is going to be awesome!
I was done in 35 minutes. Even to have more time soaking in the foot bath would have been nice. She did all components of the Goddess pedicure, so it wasn't that she skipped anything. It just seemed ... lacking.
The callus buffing was unique to say the least. According to the tech the owner got the idea from the movie Dumb and Dumber to rig up an air compressor with a pneumatic sander (?) and "sand" off calluses that way. I actually liked that technique better than the "cheese grater" that other places use. It was just weird seeing four pneumatic sanders hanging from the ceiling.
The salon was practically empty while I was there. Also, as soon as I walked to my car in the parking lot next to the building, the woman who did my pedicure and another employee walked out of and around the building to go have a smoke. Ick. The tech did not smell like smoke but honestly, I HATE going to stylists that smoke. So gross.
It wasn't an awful experience but it wasn't the best, either. So, 3 stars.
