| - I came in during my lunch hour to see how busy/pricey it was. There was hardly anything going on when I popped in and I wasn't really acknowledged. I asked someone cutting hair if they accepted credit cards (they did) and if they'd be very busy after 5. She said no so I decided to come back after work.
Upon arrival, it was even more dead inside. There was no one who seemed to work there, at least no one willing to acknowledge new customers. You have to sign in so they can keep track of who arrived when and in what order. Not exactly necessary. The two barbers were taking a reasonable amount of time on each haircut as there were a few people ahead of me. However, between finishing one cut and staring the next, they didn't seem very concerned with time.
When it came to me, I was paired with a seemingly competent male stylist who did a so-so job on my hair. It wasn't rushed and he tried to make some small talk but didn't seem too responsive. When my cut was finished, it wasn't very neat. Uneven in some places and rather messy in others. It was ok but not up to the standard I'm used to.
There were two reasons I chose to go here rather than my local barber., Besides being conveniently located near my office, they were the price and the hours of operation. My local barber charges $25 + expected tip and is closed by 6:30. Unless I go on Saturday. He also only takes cash. This place charged about half that ($17 with tip) and their hours are much more accessible. Still, I felt I needed to go to my local barber much sooner than normal after my Topcuts experience for a clean up.
Overall, I didn't find the atmosphere welcoming or very pleasant. Plus, the haircut was only so-so. I'f I needed another cut desperately, maybe I'd consider this place, but I won't likely be seeking out another Topcuts in the near future.
