We were so excited to receive a phone call that we'd won a free stay! We felt a bit pressured to book a trip but decided to just go for it. We were told they'd take us on a tour and we were encouraged to share on social media. I thought that sounded nice and I would be happy to represent on yelp. But, WE WERE SO MISLEAD! When we arrived we were informed we'd have to go to their sister property for a 2 hour presentation. We had to leave The Berkley and go to another location. That was not AT ALL what we were initially told. We were so disappointed in being mislead but the lady checking us in insisted we had to go. When we showed up we were welcomed into a huge foyer full of people. Easily 200 people there. It was obvious right away we agreed to something far bigger than we'd imagined. After a wait a young woman was assigned to be our tour guide. We could quickly tell we'd be stuck for hours with the most pushy sales pitch one could imagine. It was excruciatingly painful. I had a headache upon arriving but being in a crowded space full of so many people and a relentless saleswoman who kept pushing and pushing to emotionally engage us by asking us over and over WAY TOO PERSONAL of questions sent me over the edge. It was horrible. She did not catch any of our cues that we were uncomfortable and frustrated. We tried to be polite but let her know we had a dinner reservation soon. We even told her early on we weren't interested, are already timeshare owners and that the entire tour was misrepresented. She replied that we were stuck with her so we might as well make her best of it. When we refused to continue answering her barrage of personal questions she spent the rest of the time (wasting out time) telling us about herself. It was so painful and awkward. We were TRAPPED for nearly four hours and missed our reservations and lost precious time in the most uncomfortable situation. It was truly one of the worst experiences we have ever had. But to make matters worse at the end of the presentation when we declined a manager came over to us and was so offensive, manipulative and RUDE! Honestly I've never been so offended. He was horrible. The words "greasiest, shadiest car-salesman" come to mind. He was incredibly offensive. It took all we had not to be angry and rude. But he wasn't even worth more of our time. I cannot believe that Vacation Village employees have been trained to treat people this way and think anyone would willingly pay thousands and thousands of dollars to align with such a manipulative and dishonest business model. We learned our lesson, and will NEVER stay at The Berkley again or any other property associated with Vacation Village company again.
