This Budget branch will only let you drive their cars in Arizona, Utah, California and Nevada. They would not let us rent the car once they found out we would be driving to New Mexico. They claim that there is a disclaimer on the Costco website. The manager stated they are not a corporate Budget office and have different rules.
That was a new one. There was absolutely no flexibility with this arrangement.
The customer service rep did go over to Avis to see what they could do for us, but came back and said for the quoted price at we wouldn't be able to get anything. That was nice of her to do, but it started getting ugly when the she kept repeating over and over that it was our fault because we didn't read the fine print, which of course she or the manager refused to locate for me. She was a little scary. Could she have been the rep that is referenced in the previous reviews?
I walked away and booked a similar car online with Avis for $150.00 more for the two weeks, which I hated doing, but I just wanted to get on the road and start having fun.
Budget just lost a customer for good.
